COLD FRONT (A boundary or transition zone between two air masses of
differentdensity, and thus (usually) of different temperature. A
moving front is named according to the advancing air mass, e.g., cold
frontif colder air is advancing.) GENERATE SHOWERS INFAR SOUTH TEXAS
AND NORTHERN MEXICO An upper level trough has pushed a weak cold
front into the area. The front is approaching the Gulf coast at
this time and should continue to push to the south throughout the day.
This system should kick off an area of thunderstorms along the Rio
Grande Valley later tonight as the front stalls in deep south Texas.
The heaviest rainfall is expected on the Mexico side of the river.The
remainder of the weekend looks mostly dry. The next possible rain
event is expected to develop along the Gulf Coast on Sunday with light
showers developing ahead of the next cold front. On Monday, the
focus for rainfall should shift east of our area before the storm
system gets organized enough for significant rainfall to develop.
