Lapland Lake News
We are enjoying a lovely spring season. Yesterday as we were heading home at the
end of the day, the sweet smell of summer permeated the air. We had to stop for
a moment to take it in. Living here in the Southern Adirondacks is a
gift in every
season.
Olavi had knee repair surgery several weeks ago and is recovering well. Nothing
keeps him down for long. Our pup, Kiva, is his constant companion. She
celebrated
her first birthday yesterday!
Our daughter, Leila, recently earned her graduate degree from the
Pratt Institute
in Brooklyn in commercial interior design. We are very proud of all of
her accomplishments.
She continues her work with a small, vibrant architecture and interior
design firm
in Chelsea where she has been employed since 2008.
Ann and Leila recently returned from a visit to the west coast where
Leila may one
day wish to relocate. It was really special to have 10 uninterrupted
days of relaxing
mother-daughter time.
This is Lapland Lake's 35th anniversary year. The time has gone by so
quickly, and
we have so many wonderful memories and cherish all of the friendships
we have formed.
We have added some fabulous folks to our Lapland Lake team, and all are working
hard sprucing up the grounds and buildings including trail work,
adding insulation
to our building foundations, exterior and interior painting, flower
installation,
window glazing and more. With 14 buildings there is never a lack of
tasks to undertake!
Everyone has rolled up their sleeves with smiles all around, and we hope to have
you with us soon to enjoy it all!
Lapland Lake is stunning in the spring and summer months. We invite you to lodge
with us and to take advantage of all the activities we offer in the
warmer seasons.
Swim, kayak, canoe, hike and mountain bike. Fishing is lively with
over a thousand
rainbow and brook trout recently stocked at our lake joining the
existing population
of small mouth bass, perch, pickerel and bullhead. Or simply relax in
an Adirondack
chair by the lake or take a nap in a lakeside hammock. Relish the haunting calls
of our resident loons as they echo off the lake.
Choose to do something...or to do nothing at all....
Our lodging guests enjoy exclusive use of our property this time of
year along with
complimentary use of kayaks, canoes, rowboats, paddle boats and our
authentic Finnish
wood-burning sauna.
Our private 30-mile trail system is lovely for a hike or mountain bike workout.
Quiet country roads are also pleasant for a brisk walk, jog or for a scenic bike

Burley trailers
to tote youngsters behind your personal or rental bike and Baby
Joggers for those
who prefer to walk and stroll with their wee ones.

internationally acclaimed Saratoga Race Track celebrates its 150th
anniversary this
season and will celebrate with a season-long special event schedule!
