Incident Overview
Demobilization of fire crews and other resources continues as the Type
II Incident Management Team transfers command back to the Platte
County Firefighters on June 14 at 6:00 p.m. Wyoming State Forestry
Public Information Officer,Cathy Lujan will be the new point ofcontact
and can be reached at 307-757-7527. This will be the last update on
this page.
Residents should expect to see smoke in the area for the next several
days. Although firefighters have reached 100 percent containment,
there may still be some unburned pockets of fuel burning deep within
the fire. Residents and visitors are urged to refrain from taking any
action in extinguishing these small smoke plumes.
Guernsey State Park intends to allow cabin owners access on Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday (June 15th, 16th, 17th). Also, beginningFriday,
June 15th, the State Park intends to allow persons who have
reservations for the following campgrounds access for the weekend;
Sandy Beach, Sandy Point, Sandy Cove, West Sandy, and Cottonwood Cove.
Long Canyon Campground, accessed onlythrough Hartville due to road
closures, will also be open beginning Friday, June 15th. For more
information on restrictions or to coordinate an escort into the park,
contact the State Park officeat 307-777-6324. Be advised that any
openings and restrictions are subject to change based on assessment of
fire hazard conditions.
